Lyophilized vs liquid exosome serums: why the two-part format matters

Freeze-dried powder plus activator, or a ready-mixed liquid? How each format behaves on the shelf, in the treatment room and in the customer’s hands.

Two products can both say “exosome serum” on the box and behave very differently. The most important difference is often not the source of the exosomes but the format they are delivered in. This article compares the two common approaches.

What is a lyophilized exosome serum?

Lyophilization is freeze-drying: the product is frozen and the water is removed under low pressure, leaving a dry, porous “cake” or powder. In a two-part exosome kit, that powder sits in one vial or chamber and an activator liquid sits in another. The user combines them, swirls gently, and the serum is ready.

All Mars exosome products use this fresh-activated format. Vial kits pair 100 mg of powder with 3 ml of activator; ampoule sets pair 30 mg with 1.5 ml; the hop scalp essence uses a dual-chamber bottle with 300 mg and 6 ml that mixes at the press of a cap.

Why clinics and distributors prefer two-part kits

Stability through the supply chain. A product shipped from Shanghai to Mexico City or Madrid may spend weeks in transit and storage. Keeping the active dry until use reduces one of the variables a distributor cannot control.

A moment the client can see. In a treatment room, dissolving the powder in front of the client turns an invisible ingredient into a small ritual. Several clinics we speak to build this into their protocol on purpose.

Single-use dosing. Each set is one application. There is no half-used bottle sitting on a shelf, which simplifies hygiene in professional settings.

How to activate a two-part kit

  1. Remove the caps from the powder vial and the activator vial.
  2. Pour or transfer the activator into the powder vial.
  3. Close and swirl gently until the powder has fully dissolved. Do not shake hard.
  4. Apply to clean skin (or scalp, for the hop essence) and use the activated serum as directed on the pack.

Always follow the usage instructions printed on your specific product, and the protocol your clinic has approved.

Which should you choose?

If you sell into professional channels or export markets, the two-part format is usually the safer commercial choice. If your customers want a quick, everyday step, a liquid may suit them better — and many brands carry both.
